Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series

Scott Bloomquist to chase Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series championship

Four-time World 100 winner and eight-time Dream winner Scott Bloomquist plans to make his return to touring competition in 2024. The 2002 National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inductee from Mooresburg, Tenn., confirmed to Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series officials that he plans to follow the second-year series this season. In chasing the tour’s $50,000 top prize, Bloomquist will attempt to secure his 14th career touring championship and first since winning his third Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series crown in 2016.

Arguably the most prolific driver in Dirt Late Model history, Bloomquist has dealt with a plethora of health issues since injuring his leg in a motorcycle accident in 2019. He’s been hampered by back and shoulder problems and a broken foot last Fall, as well as the revelation that the 60-year-old star was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer last July. It’s been a difficult five years, but Bloomquist revealed during December’s Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis, Ind., that he’d likely forgo shoulder surgery for the time being and did indeed plan to race in 2024.

Bloomquist has only made abbreviated starts since his motorcycle crash following 2019’s Georgia-Florida Speedweeks. His last competitive laps came during last season’s World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series World Finals where he finished seventh and 15th in the Friday-Saturday doubleheader at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., driving a Devin Jones-owned Team Zero Race Car. Before that, he entered October’s Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora Speedway with Jones. Bloomquist also made a brief appearance during Georgia-Florida Speedweeks at Volusia Speedway Park in a Big Frog Motorsports-prepared machine on Feb. 16, 2023.

Along with his three Lucas Oil Series titles, Bloomquist also won the World of Outlaws championship in 2004. He’s a three-time DIRTcar Summer Nationals champ (1990-’91, ’02), earned five UDTRA Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series titles from 1994 to 2003 and claimed the crown with the 1998 Big Johnson Late Model National Championship series. Bloomquist leads both the Hav-A-Tampa Series (100) and Lucas Oil Series (94) in career victories and has 33 career WoO wins.
